Abstract

This paper shows the two applications of PSInSAR technique to monitor land deformation in Japan. The first example is Tokai earthquake risk assessment. PSInSAR showed well the movement of plate tectonics by monitoring the two-dimensional land subsidence. The second example is to monitor an active fault movement by earthquake along Riv. Kakkonda, Iwate. PSInSAR monitored the land rise time-histories before and after the earthquake occurred. These two examples show that PSInSAR is a good tool for geotechnical engineers to evaluate the land deformation. It is useful not only for the research projects, but for practical projects.
