Drill Head Locating System for Horizontal Directional Drilling

Abstract
Drill head locating technology is used as the system to measure the horizontal position and the depth of the drill head of the horizontal directional drilling (here after HDD) machine. This paper describes the locating accuracy concerned to the depth using conventional system and the novel system. And we examined whether its applicability would be expandable in the case of the novel system. Consequently, we could check that both systems might be enough for gas piping construction from a viewpoint of depth accuracy. Moreover, the applicability would be expandable in the case of the novel system from a viewpoint of the efficient work.
