Abstract
The determination of the first arrival time of seismic wave is of
fundamental importance in seismic tomography. The Hausdorff fractal
dimension of seismic traces based upon fractal theory is different before
and after first break. The sudden change point of fractal dimension for
seismic traces indicates the position of the first arrival time. In the
present paper, the method for calculating Hausdorff fractal dimension of
seismic traces and its application to the detection of arrival time of the
first break are proposed.
